Let’s be honest: standard infrared lamps are great until they aren’t. The moment you’re dealing with a non-standard bending furnace, those off-the-shelf tubes start to fail you. Maybe your machine footprint is too tight, or your glass has a weird geometry. Either way, you end up with “dead zones” where the glass stays cold or hot spots that ruin the piece entirely. It’s frustrating. And it’s expensive. That’s why we just build the lamps to fit your exact length and shape. No guessing. Getting the heat exactly where it needs to be In glass molding, you want that rapid softening, but you can’t just blast the surface and hope for the best. We tweak the quartz envelope to fit your rail layout perfectly. Then we play with the filament length and wattage to dial in the heat density. Need a punchy, concentrated hit of thermal energy? We can give you a shorter, high-wattage tube. It’s a great trick if you want to shrink your furnace size without slowing down your production. Tough materials, weird shapes We use high-purity quartz because the last thing you need is a lamp warping under pressure. If your molds are irregular, we can actually bend the tubes into arcs or U-shapes. This lets us get the heat source much closer to the glass, which means less heat escaping into the air and more going into the work. Depending on your glass type, you can go with clear quartz for maximum penetration or a coated version to shift the wavelength. The “gotchas” and the fit Fitting these into a cramped furnace can be a headache, so we handle the connectors for you. Whether it’s R7s or something more specialized, they’re built to be drop-in replacements. But here is the thing: if you’re pushing high wattage into a tiny, custom tube, your lamp holders are going to feel it. You’ll need to make sure your cooling fans and heat sinks are up to the task, or you’ll end up burning out your sockets. When the length is right, the guesswork disappears. You get a uniform heat across the entire bend radius. No gaps. No wasted space. Just glass that bends exactly how it’s supposed to.
